Colorectal Cancer Screening

Bowel cancer is among the most common cancers in Hong Kong — and one of the most treatable when it is found early.

What is involved

What we see and do

  • Enrolment in the Government Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme
  • Faecal immunochemical (stool) test provided and processed
  • Explanation of your result
  • Referral for colonoscopy if the test is positive
  • Follow-up and repeat screening at the recommended interval

Your visit

What to expect

Screening is for people with no bowel symptoms. If you already have symptoms — bleeding, a change in bowel habit, unexplained weight loss — you need to be seen and assessed rather than screened, so come in and tell us.

The test itself is done at home and returned to the clinic. A positive result does not mean cancer; it means a colonoscopy is needed to find out what caused the bleeding.

Eligible Hong Kong residents are subsidised under the Government programme.

More detail for this page is being prepared. In the meantime please call 2267 7899 during opening hours and we will answer any question directly.
