Privacy Policy

How Tin Tsz Medical Centre collects, uses and protects your personal data under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).

Tin Tsz Medical Centre (“the clinic”), operated by Pallada Medical Limited, is committed to protecting the privacy of patients and visitors. This policy explains what personal data we hold, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, Chapter 486 of the Laws of Hong Kong (“the Ordinance”).

  • Clinical information — your medical history, symptoms, examination findings, diagnoses, medicines prescribed, laboratory and test results, vaccination records, and correspondence with hospitals or other doctors.
  • Administrative and payment information — consultation and billing records, receipts, insurance details where you provide them, and records relating to Government subsidy schemes in which you are enrolled.

2. Why we collect it

Your personal data is used for purposes directly related to your medical care and the running of the clinic, namely:

  • Providing medical diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and continuity of care.
  • Arranging and interpreting laboratory tests, imaging and referrals to other doctors or hospitals.
  • Issuing prescriptions, medical certificates and referral letters.
  • Billing, payment and the keeping of accounting records.
  • Administering Government primary healthcare programmes in which you choose to participate, including the Chronic Disease Co-Care Scheme, the Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme, the Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme, the Vaccination Subsidy Scheme and the Residential Care Home Vaccination Programme.
  • Meeting our obligations under Hong Kong law, and under the professional and ethical requirements of the Medical Council of Hong Kong.

3. When we share it

Medical information is confidential. We disclose your personal data only where it is necessary for your care or where the law requires it, and only to the extent needed. This may include:

  • Laboratories and diagnostic providers carrying out tests requested for you.
  • Hospitals, specialists and other healthcare professionals to whom you are referred.
  • The Health Bureau, the Department of Health and their agents, in connection with Government subsidy schemes you have joined.
  • Your insurer or employer, only where you have given consent or asked us to provide a report or certificate.
  • Any party to whom disclosure is required or permitted by law, including by court order.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your medical information for marketing.

4. How long we keep it

Medical records are retained for as long as is necessary for the purposes above and in line with the professional guidance issued by the Medical Council of Hong Kong and applicable legal requirements. Records are then securely destroyed.

5. How we protect it

Paper and electronic records are held securely at the clinic. Access is restricted to the doctor and clinic staff who need it to carry out their duties, all of whom are bound by a duty of confidentiality. We take practicable steps to guard against unauthorised or accidental access, processing, erasure, loss or use, as required by Data Protection Principle 4 of the Ordinance.

6. Your rights of access and correction

Under sections 18 and 22 of, and Data Protection Principle 6 in Schedule 1 to, the Ordinance you have the right to ask whether we hold personal data about you, to be given a copy of that data, and to have data corrected if it is inaccurate. A reasonable fee may be charged for complying with a data access request, as the Ordinance permits.
